SPL Maturity Model Tool
The SPL Maturity Assessment tool was created to assess the management style and performance of projects from an operational, strategic, and leadership perspective, and to analyze how this style contributes to project success. Assessing your project will give you an opportunity to compare your style to the industry standard and identify potential areas for improvement on this or next projects.
The tools analyzes your project on three dimensions:
- Operational Excellence (the degree to which the project is or was managed efficiently, to meet time, budget, and requirements goals)
- Strategic Focus (the degree to which the project is or was managed in a strategic way to achieve the expected business or other organizational goals)
- Inspired Leadership (assessing the people’s side of project team leadership).
SPL Planning Guidelines
The purpose of these guidelines is to help executives, business champions, as well as project managers build a Project Charter, a Project Initiation Document (sometimes called Project Launch Document), and Project Implementation Plans according to the principles of Strategic Project Leadership® as well as traditional project management parts of the plan. These guidelines will be the basis for preparing the company’s specific documentations of SPL.
The tool is available in a document form.
Project Analysis Guidelines
The purpose of this tool is to analyze a “real” project by examining how much strategic management was applied during its execution and how did this contribute to project success or failure. The analysis would test the application of concepts, theory, frameworks, and tools of Strategic Project Leadership. The objective is to identify weaknesses and gaps in the project that could be corrected and improved.
The tool includes a framework and guidelines for conducting the project analysis and preparing the final report. The analysis is focused on the managerial and organizational aspects of the project and not on its technical topics.
The tool is available in a document form.
